Happy New Year!

I know my Oceanian peeps have entered 2025 already (how’s it looking so far?), but I want to wish all my commenters, downloaders and visitors a happy new 2025!

If 2024 has been a rough one, here’s to hoping 2025 will be much better; if 2024 has been a good one, here’s to hoping 2025 will be better still. The only way is up! ⭐

Thanks for sticking with me this year even though I haven’t been very active. Love you all! ❤️

  1. Happy New Year! It’s 22:05 MST and we’re counting down. I just set my black-eyed peas to soak, and I have all my veggies chopped for the obligatory Hoppin’ John tomorrow! (Hoppin’ John has long been a southern tradition; in my own family it can be documented back over 125 years, and likely goes back even further. Call it tradition, superstition, or sympathetic magic, the peas are for good luck, the best possible outcome in any situation, the rice is for good health, greens are for good fortune/financial prosperity, and the gold of the cornbread and the yams bring blessings, joy, golden days, golden memories, and lasting love.)

Do you have any New Year’s Day/Eve rituals?

    • Sorry for the late reply!

I haven’t heard of Hoppin’ John before, but it sounds delicious. We don’t really have any New Year’s rituals in my family, we’re boring like that. (Well, as long as I had Signe, our NYE ritual was shutting ourselves in the bathroom around nine-ish or so in the evening and then staying there until the fireworks had stopped; she didn’t like loud noises and the bathroom didn’t have any windows, so it was the quietest room in our flat.)

This year, my aunt M and I had planned for her to come to my new(ish) place to watch the fireworks (I have a great view from my living-room window), but we had to cancel because the weather suddenly remembered it’s winter and hit us with a bit of a snowstorm, meaning everything in the city ground to a complete standstill. So no going anywhere. (Snow in late December is not at all uncommon in these parts – and yet, every single year we act as if it’s the first time it’s happened in the history of mankind. 🙄 ) But we talked on the phone, so it was nice anyway. 🙂

  2. Happy New Year!

As usual, we rushed ahead. XD Hope you have a great year with lots of simming.

You’re always so impatient over there, every year you have to go first. 😉

Hope it’s a good one for you, too!
