Report Bugs

I test my items thoroughly before release, but sometimes I miss things and a bug (or more šŸ˜³ ) gets past me. So if you find a problem with any of my downloads, I’d be super grateful if you’d tell me about it. You can either leave a comment on the item’s download page (you can comment anonymously) or use the form below – whichever you prefer.

Youā€™re not bothering me or inconveniencing me or wasting my time or anything like that ā€“ on the contrary, youā€™re doing me a huge favour! I want my creations to be the best they can be, so I want to know about any issues so I can fix them. Iā€™m not telepathic, though, so if you just tell Random Internet Person at MTS Random Forum that “nix’s [item] doesn’t work why???” thereā€™s a good chance Iā€™ll never know about it (and thus won’t be able to fix it), not unless someone points me to the post or I stumble upon it by accident – and there’s no guarantee either will happen.

So help me out a little? Pretty please with sugar on top? And a cherry? ā¤

Before you report a problem, though, it would be great if you could first check the list below – it’ll make the troubleshooting both faster and easier for both of us:

  • Did you put the item in your Downloads folder?
    (If not, then please do and check the item in game again. The game can’t find it on your desktop. šŸ˜‰ )
     
  • Did you unzip it?
    (If not, then please do and check the item in game again. The game can’t read zipped files.)
     
  • Did you install the item while your game was running?
    (If yes, then please close your game, restart it and check the item again. The game only loads your Downloads folder at startup, not continuously, so any items you add while the game is running won’t show up until you restart IT.)
     
  • Did you follow the installation instructions (if any)?
    (Most of my items don’t have any special installation instructions, but a few do. In that case, you’ll find the instructions in a text file in the download zip file. While you’re at it, please check one more time that you’ve put everything where it’s supposed to go; items like CEPs won’t work properly if they aren’t installed correctly.)
     
  • Do you have the required expansion packs installed?
    (If you don’t, you might experience anything from jump bugs to crashes. In that case, it means you can’t use this particular item in your game – sorry!)
     
  • Are you playing The Sims 2?
    (My items are for TS2 ONLY and will NOT work with TS3 or TS4. If you get an error message saying the file is corrupted, it means you’re trying to use them with the wrong game. I don’t play TS3 or TS4 myself, so I can’t convert anything for you – sorry! (I’m fine with other people converting my items for TS3, though – but please don’t convert them for TS4.) )
     

If you’ve checked all this (thank you! ā­ ) and are still having problems, then the form below is for you.

Your bug report doesn’t have to be technical in any way, but the more you can tell me about the problem, the better, especially for objects. (“It doesn’t work” doesn’t really give me anything to work with; “I can’t click it” is a little better because then at least I have a starting point; “I can place the item and I can click on it, but when the Sim try to do [menu option] I get a jump bug, and I have [these EPs and SPs] installed” is brilliant; also turn on testing cheats and give me the first paragraph of the error log and you win the Nobel Prize in bug reporting. šŸ˜€ )

Your name and email are optional, but just in case I need to ask you any follow-up questions about the problem it would be great if you could at least fill out your email. If you aren’t comfortable with that, though, it’s absolutely fine to leave it empty – to me, an anonymous report is still much, much better than no report at all.
