Well. These have been a long time coming, to say the least. They were supposed to be posted already during Toddler Month in July, but that didn’t happen for various reasons. At the time I thought it would be no big deal if I uploaded it in early or mid August instead… but then Nonni died. ๐ฅ Nonni wasn’t just a dear friend, she was also one of my most faithful and frequent commenters and had been following this blog from the start. This upload was something I knew she would have liked (she loved the toddlers in game), and I had been greatly looking forward to getting her enthusiastic comments on it… so I needed some time to adjust to her being gone before I was emotionally ready to post it. (I always knew I was going to post it, though; my shelving it on her behalf would have been the last thing Nonni would have wanted.) Then, of course, I had to go on hiatus on a bit for health reasons… so yeah. Time passed.
But now they are finally here: Four rocking cots for your littlest Simlets. For Nonni. โค
Before we start, there’s going to be a lot of info in this post. I’ve tried to take screenshots of everything that can be screenshotted and also to bold/emphasize the info that’s the most important, but still… there’s going to be a lot of info in this post. Apologies in advance.
First things first. When the cot is empty, when you click on it you’ll just get the usual “put in crib” pie menu option – but once there’s a baby or toddler in it, if you click on the right side of the cot, Sims aged teen and up will also have the option to “Rock” (which will become “Stop Rocking” when the cot is moving). If the rocking isn’t stopped by the player, it will stop automatically when the baby/toddler either wakes up or is picked up, whichever comes first. (When the rocking is stopped, depending on where it is in the animation cycle the cot might twitch for a moment before it slows down and comes to a stop. Sorry about that.)
When the cot is rocking, toddlers will gain energy slightly faster than in a regular cot, and they will also gain a little fun. (If Sims can gain Cooking enthusiasm when dreaming about food, then IMO they can gain fun in their sleep as well.) If the toddler is awake, they won’t gain any energy, but they’ll still gain fun if they’re sitting and idling, and more quickly than when they’re asleep. (Yes, the rocking will stop when the baby/toddler wakes up, but their parents/sibs can always start it again. ๐ )
Three of the cots are rocking variations of in-game one, while the fourth one is new, sort of.
First, you have the Rocking Kinder Kontainer. It is repositoried to the Maxis Kinder Kontainer (so it only requires the base game), so any and all recolours you have for that one will also be available here. You only get one variation of this one, so there’s no special installation instructions.
$290 and poly (2736 polys on two tiles – 300 polys more than the original, because rockers).
Then we have the Rocking Sleigh Crib. It’s repositoried to the Free Time Wonderland Sleigh Crib, so FT is required lest it will flash blue.
$315, poly (2389 – again around 300 polys more than the original). The cot gate isn’t animated, BTW; the mesh didn’t really lend itself to animation, and it isn’t on the original cot, either. ๐ฆ
This cot comes in three variations:
- The “NoBedding” variation, which is set up the same way as the original Sleigh Crib, with the bedding and the frame on the same subset. No additional files are required.

- The “OrigBedding” variation, which looks just like the NoBedding variation – but this one has the bedding and the cot frame as separate subsets, meaning that they can be recoloured separately.
A CEP for the FT Wonderland Sleigh Crib is required for this variation!
- Please note that the CEP will break any bedding recolours you have for the original cot! Recolours of the frame will be fine, but for frame + bedding (or bedding only) recols, the bedding recol won’t show up. This because it’s now on a new, renamed subset.
So if you have any bedding recols for the Sleigh cot that you’d really like to keep, DON’T choose this variation – go with the “NoBedding” one instead.
-
And the “CheapBedding” variation. Here the frame is repositoried to the Sleigh Crib, but the bedding to the Kinder Kontainer.
A CEP for the Sleigh Crib is recommended (otherwise you’ll get duplicate recols of the frame), but not required.
- Note: The “NoBedding” and the “OrigBedding” cots will conflict, so you can only have one of the two in game at a time. The “CheapBedding” one is fine to use with both the other two, though, it won’t conflict with either.
Then we have the Lil’ Jailbird Rocking Crib. As you may have guessed, it’s repositoried to the FT Lil’ Jailbird Canopy Crib, so again FT is required. (This cot doesn’t have a canopy, though; a canopy on a cot that rocks looked like an accident just waiting to happen to me. ๐ But at least the gate is animated on this one?)
$340, poly (2106). This cot, too, comes in three variations, just like the Sleigh Crib:
- A “NoBedding” variation, set up like the original Canopy Crib with the bedding and the frame on the same subset. No additional files are required.

-
An “OrigBedding” variation, with the frame and the bedding on separate subsets.
A CEP for the FT Li’l Jailbird Canopy Crib is required for this variation!
Just as with the Sleigh Crib, the CEP will break any bedding recolours you have for the original Canopy Crib, so don’t choose this variation if you have bedding recols you want to keep. It will also conflict with default mesh replacements, so don’t choose it one if you have a mesh default you like, either.

- And the “CheapBedding” variation, where the frame is slaved to the Canopy Crib and the bedding to the Kinder Kontainer. Like with the Sleigh crib, a CEP for the original Canopy Crib is recommended, but not required.
- As with the Sleigh Crib, the “CheapBedding” can be used together with (one of) the others, but the “NoBedding” and “OrigBedding” variations will conflict, so you can only have one of the two in game at a time.
And then we have the cot that’s sort of new: a Rocking Country Crib. It’s slaved to the Seasons Four Post Bed, so SSN is required. (And yes, I know that nengi65 already made a Country cot in 2007, but hers doesn’t rock, and even if we’ve used the same base item, the cots look different. But if you think that cots are Highlanders (you know, “there can be only one”) even if they’re made ten years apart, then by all means feel free to skip mine. ๐ )
$375 and poly (5474, albeit on two tiles). This one comes in two variations:
-
The “CanopyBedding” variation, which has the frame repositoried to the Four Post Bed and the bedding to the FT Li’l Jailbird Canopy Crib (so FT is required in addition to SSN).
A CEP for the FT Li’l Jailbird Canopy Crib is required for this variation! Once again, this will break bedding recols for the original Canopy Crib, along with any mesh replacements you might have.

- And the “CheapBedding” variation, which – you guessed it – has the frame repositoried to the Four Post Bed and the bedding to the Kinder Kontainer. No additional files required.
- The two cots have different GUIDs, so you can have both in game at the same time if you so prefer.
Special Thanks…
…to my school of babel fish over at leefish.nl for helping me translate the pie menus:
Klaartje and BoilingOil (Dutch), digi (Finnish), celebkiriedhel and poisson (French), Amaryll (German), noiredeb (Italian), Jeremine (Russian) and King_Deadly (Spanish).
Also thanks to shastakiss and justJones for sending second-language fish my way. ๐
Dank je, kiitos, merci, danke, grazie, spasiba, gracias and thank you! โค
Just to be on the safe side, installation instructions for the cots and for the CEPs are included in the zip files.
The CEPs are included in the zip file with the cots, but you can also download them separately in case you only want the CEPs and not the cots.
Nonni would have loved these ๐ฆ I posted them in her memory thread, I hope you don’t mind, as these are dedicated to her ๐ฆ
Yeah, I think/hope so, too. ๐ฆ I do hope she can see them from up in Heaven. (They must have Sims in Heaven, right? Doesn’t seem very heaven-ly to me otherwise.) And of course I don’t mind! On the contrary. Thank you! โค
These look fabulous! You always come up with such awesome content. I can’t wait to try them out ๐
Aww, thank you! ๐ So glad you like them, and my other stuff as well – it always make my day to hear that. ๐
Nix, these are so sweet and I love that they are for Nonni! Thank you :3
Thank you! โค I only wish she could have seen them. ๐ฆ But like I said to Gina above – they must have Sims in Heaven, right? And if they didn't before, they do now that Nonni's there. ๐
These are truly amazing! So many of your wonderful creations make my Sims world that much more special. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thank you very much, it makes my day to hear that.! ๐
The story behind the cribs is bittersweet, but a touching tribute to Nonni nonetheless. They’re very pretty and very well done. Thank you, Nix.
Yeah. You think you have all the time in the world, and then… you don’t. ๐ฅ And thank you! Very glad you like them!
The reason the Sims2 kept my attention at the beginning was the toddlers. These cribs will have me using cribs again instead of just toddler beds. They’re amazing! Thank you for creating them.
Guilty confession: I couldn’t stand the toddlers in the beginning, I thought they were so. much. work. ๐ But when I’d been playing a while, and started paying better attention, the little scamps grew on me – and now I think they’re adorable. ๐ They’ve got so many cute actions!
And thank you! I’m so glad you like them! ๐ I really am happy with how they came out – and that UV mapping the rockers for the Country crib didn’t drive me insane. ๐
Such a lovely story behind the creation of these wonderful cribs. Nix, thank you for deciding to finish them up and share with us all. *hugs*
Thank you. โค I won't lie, posting them was hard (I kept stalling, and stalling, and stalling…), but I'm so glad people like them. Makes it all worth it. ๐
*hugs* Nix, and thank you. These are really wonderful.
Dominie! So sorry for the late reply, but it’s great to see you again! ๐ And I’m very glad you like the cribs. *hugs back*
There’s no doubt in my mind that Nonni would have been excited about this set. I’m still missing her deeply, but we keep her alive by making such things and remembering her. She loved the Sims so much. I know that I’m also excited about this set and will definitely use it in my game! Thank you so much for sharing. You’re a great inspiration to me as a creator. โค
Very sorry for the late reply!
Thank you, Sunni, it warms my heart to hear that. โค And I miss her a lot, too; it felt very strange when the comments started coming on this upload… but there were none from Nonni. For me, who only knew her online, that made it so very tangible that she isn't here any more. ๐ฆ But it's like you say – by remembering her, we keep her alive.
It makes me very happy to hear you like the cribs! ๐ I won't lie, I'm quite proud with how they came out. (BTW, there will most probably be a medieval (one-tile) rocking crib or two later on.) But… I’m an inspiration to you as a creator? Really? ๐ฎ It means so much to me to hear you say that, you have no idea. Thank you! โค
Well, I’m sitting here bawling my eyes out right now; I’ve been on hiatus from the game and the forums for several months due to eye problems, and this is the first I heard of Nonni’s passing. I’ve known her on-line almost since I started simming. She was one of those rare souls who combined vast patience, an inexhaustible well of encouragement and empathy, and a keen, occasionally biting, wit. I will miss her very much. So, thank you, J, for the upload–it’s gorgeous, and I know I’ll use it often (and I can’t wait for the antique one-tile infant version!)–but thank you even more for the perfect tribute/birthday gift that Nonni would have adored. It is one of the most gracious gestures I’ve seen in quite a while.
Sorry for the late reply, and even sorrier to be the bearer of such sad news. ๐ฆ That’s the downside to knowing people online – if something happens to them, and you aren’t in the right place at the right time, it might be weeks or months (or worse) before you hear anything about it. Me, I was lucky (if you can call it that), I learnt about it already on 5 Aug – but it was purely by chance. I’d been checking my stats and had followed an incoming link back to a chat box (I’m a little obsessed with tracking incoming links), and as I was scrolling through it to try to find my link, someone burst in and said “Nonni has died!”. ๐ฎ I thought I must have read it wrong at first, or that they were talking about some other Nonni… but then I went to Affinity, just to check, and sure enough, there was the announcement on the first page. ๐ฅ And yeah, I bawled my eyes out, too.
Anyway. I’m very glad you like these, and also that you appreciate the tribute, that means a lot. โค I hope you will enjoy them!
I would love to see recolors of this. If anyone sees recolors will you post here so we can all enjoy them? I know Nonni loved seeing wonderful creations used often and recolors are a great way to help make that happen.
Sorry for the late reply! And absolutely, if anybody sees/has recols and sends me a link, I’ll link to them here. ๐
Just to be clear, though, since these are repositoried, if anyone wants to recolour them they should instead recolour the original, in-game cribs (and the Four Post bed, for the Country crib), and my cribs will pick those recols up. Just so nobody tries to recolour these, and wonders why their recolour package comes out empty. ๐
I love those cribs! They’re great, it is wonderful idea … Nonni was dear friend, kind person. And she loved toddlers. She would have celebrated her birthday on February 22th, you know? I miss her …
Thanks a lot for sharing! I’ll download and try Them in game ๐
Thank you! I’m so glad you like them. ๐
And yeah, I miss her a lot, too. ๐ฆ I did know about her birthday (my own is on 28 Feb, and I used to like that we were so close), but I actually didn’t think about how close it was in time when I posted these. So that was pure luck – or maybe Nonni was nudging me to finally get them out. ๐
Hooray for the return of Sim Queen Nix! Sorry this comment has come late. I too have been away due to the unforgiving heat of Australian summers (they were even saying how this year was abnormally bad). Lovely to be back myself and seeing your posts again. ๐
Ack, SO sorry for the late reply! If you need me, I’ll be standing in that corner over there, with no cookie. ๐ณ
Seriously, though, it’s great to have you back, too! (I just realised I don’t know where in Oz you are – I really hope you weren’t in Debbie’s path.) And aww, you sweetie. โค I don't know about Sim Queen, I think there are others who have a stronger claim to that title, but I won't deny I'm happy with how these came out. ๐
How in the world have I not seen these before now?? Nix, as usual your creations are second to none, and so useful and eye pleasing at the same time. Love everything you do!
Hi, Tiff! Don’t know, but I’m glad you’ve seen them now. ๐ And aww, thank you! It makes my day to hear you say that. So glad you like what I do! โค
