I have a new computer, and it runs like a dream! 
Most importantly, it runs TS2 like a dream; my full game, that took 35< mins to load on my old computer? Now takes <15. And even big, CC-laden lots, that tended to lag a bit on the old comp., run smoothly – even though the graphics card doesn't have any dedicated memory, but sponges on the RAM.
I'm still in the process of moving in, but hopefully I'll be able to return to my original simming shortly and all will once again be well in my world. 🙂 And this will be the last you'll have to hear about my computer troubles. 😛
Nixed Sims 
I know how delightful it is to have a computer that runs the TS2 without complaining, balking and generally being a pain. I am so happy for you. We of your fan club are very happy for our own selfish reasons. LOL

I have a computer that handles most of my games well, but TS2 is always slow to load and sometimes hitchy. Please share with us what machine or components you have found that does such a good job. I will gladly upgrade mine if I knew what I needed to run this game for my pleasure and not my frustration.

It’s a HP Pro 3515 with Windows 7. (You have the option to upgrade to Win 8, but I won’t do that unless at gunpoint.) 4 GB of RAM (that you can upgrade to 8 GB) and a 3.6 MHz APU. It just has embedded graphics that doesn’t have any dedicated memory, but it runs TS2 just fine at maximum settings even so. I always run in windowed mode, though; can’t say how it performs in full-screen mode.
It should probably be noted that compared to many others, I don’t have that much CC – only about 8 GB. So if you’re one of the simmers who has 20+ GB, I don’t know how well it would perform for you.

And yeah, Win 8. 😡 My mum’s new computer has Win 8 and Win 8 only, and I dislike it on so many level, it’s not even funny. I’m the family’s resident computer support, so whenever a computer does something strange, I’m the one they call. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy to help… but I really don’t like Win 8. I’m pretty sure HAL 9000 had Win 8, and we all know how that ended. 😛

I would have asked them what on earth they were smoking. 😛
