The TSM Jacoban Fireplace as a… Fireplace

Category: Misc. -> Misc.
EPs Required: None โ€“ base game compatible
Cost: $1,450
Poly Count: High poly! (3842 = 1921/tile)

Backstory: a while ago (a long, long while ago ๐Ÿ˜ณ ), I got a request from the wonderful Tiff a.k.a. ekrubynaffit for an invisible recol for the cauldron of the TSM Jacoban fireplace I’d converted as a stove earlier, so it can be used as, you know, a fireplace without looking out of place (as Tiff put it, “a cooking pot in the ballroom won’t work”). Me being, well, me, I offered to make it into an actual fireplace instead. And here it is, at long last. Sorry it’s taken so long, Tiff!

First and foremost: I don’t use the Scriptorium, never have (and after playing this game without it for more than 20 years, I’m not about to start now), and I won’t force you to, either. So I’ve cloned this fireplace from Numenor’s clone template, that doesn’t require the Scriptorium. The downside to this is that the fireplace won’t show up in the Build -> Misc. -> Fireplaces category, like you’d expect, but in Buy Mode, under Misc. -> Misc. It is a real fireplace, though, I promise – it’s just the category that’s different. I hope this isn’t too annoying to you!

The fireplace doesn’t have a chimney. The footprint is two tiles but the mesh is ever-so-slightly wider, so there might be some clipping if you place something right next to it that takes up the full tile – in that case quartertile placement and snapobjectstogrid false are your friends.

The mantle has eight slots, where you can put everything you can put on end tables. The shelf they’re on is quite narrow, though, so larger objects will clip and/or extend beyond the shelf, which might look a little silly.

It comes in the same six recols as the original fireplace (but I’ve polished them a little to make them look crisper) + one extra because I felt like it:

Just as with the original fireplace, the mantle and the sculptures are separate subsets, so you can mix and match:

And with that, you may go forth and

  1. Thankyou so much Nix! I absolutely love it and now can’t wait to find my big ole house to put it in and have her ladyship have a good blaze going in the ballroom!

  2. That looks absolutely perfect, Nix. Thank you!
    I have no idea where I’m going to put it, of course, but nonetheless I’ve got to have it. Moonstone speaks to me!

    • Glad you like it (even if you don’t know where to put it)! And please don’t tell the other recols, but Moonstone is my favourite, too. ๐Ÿ˜„

    • No worries, fixed it for you. ๐Ÿ™‚ (But why you – general, all-WP-users “you” – can’t edit your comments on other blogs when you’re logged in is beyond me, especially since you can’t preview them before posting.)

    • Glad you like! And “I don’t need this, I don’t know where to put it, but I’m downloading it anyway” is the story of 85% of my Downloads folder. ๐Ÿ˜€
