Two Invisible Lamps

Invisible Lamps

Category: Lighting -> Ceiling Lamps/Wall Lamps
Cost: $5
Poly Count: Low poly
EPs Required: None – base game compatible

As a storyteller, I sometimes want some extra light in my screenshots, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I want some extra lamps in my screenshots. So I made a couple of invisible ones.

So, here you have an invisible ceiling lamp and a ditto wall lamp. They can of course both be picked up and moved around after you’ve placed them – just make sure you know where you’ve put them. πŸ™‚ Invisible things can be hard to find if you don’t know where to look…

Both lamps have two variations: one with a hard, white light and one with a softer, yellow light. (The difference is rather subtle in the screenshots, but it’s much more obvious in game.) You can of course have both variations in game at the same time, or delete the one(s) you don’t want.

  1. I do thank you for giving the variations on the intensity. Brilliant. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Hugs

    • I’m glad you like them, Nonni! πŸ˜€ This is something I’ve wanted for quite some time, so I really don’t know why I didn’t make these long ago.

A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you, too! And thanks for being such a faithful visitor this year. πŸ™‚

    • Glad you like them! Like I told Nonni above, I really don’t know why I didn’t make something like this long ago – I’ve certainly been abusing these with a vengeance since I finished them. Happy Holidays to you, too! (Provided that the world doesn’t end tomorrow, that is. ;))

  2. Coming in way late for it, but THANK YOU!!!! I, too, wanted light but no visible light source on several occasions, and now it’s possible! May your extra-spicy nachos be plentiful! 8D

    • Nice comments are never late. πŸ˜€ And you’re very welcome, I’m glad you found these useful. πŸ™‚ I’m going to nom on some spicy nachos now. πŸ˜‰

  3. I am so grateful to you for doing this! I recently reinstalled Gunmod’s radiance light into my Sims game but really dislike how harsh the “white light” looks after. This is a great solution! I’ll just stick the invisible yellow light under the harsh white ones and turn them off. πŸ™‚

And here I was thinking I would have to somehow edit every light I didn’t like with SimPE…

    • Glad to be of service! πŸ˜€ (And glad you didn’t have to figure out a way to edit all those lights. πŸ˜‰ ) Just so you know, I made the mesh for the ceiling lights especially quite big, so they would be easy to grab, so at certain angles they can be a little too easy to grab, which might be a little annoying. But I wanted people to have a chance to get at them even if they couldn’t remember exactly where they’d put them.

      • Yessss, because for a Skin is needed light when it is night to see their true colors, and putting a lamp or something it was troublesome, but now with yourrrrsss *0*!!! Thanks again :3

    • Thanks! πŸ˜€ I think these, and the invisible floor lamps, are the items of mine I use the absolutely most in my own game. I have them everywhere. πŸ™‚

But I’m thinking of revamping these a bit (I mean, it’s not like I’ve got a ton of other projects going or anything πŸ™„ ), and add a visible recolour so you actually can see where you put them, and also make it so that you can make all of them visible/invisible at the same time. Because one thing I have problems with myself sometimes is finding the danged things if I want to move them, especially the ceiling lamps. It would be so much easier if I could you know, see them. πŸ˜› It’s not very high up on my list ATM, though.

Oh! Whilst I have you on the line, I don’t know if you saw my comment, but I fixed the counter. I hope that whatever grudge those things have been holding against me is settled now. πŸ˜›

      • Ohhh thats a good idea, as I always forgot I’ve even put them in and then don’t think to tell people when I upload :p Hadn’t seen the counter fix, must have missed that in my email, thanks πŸ™‚
