New year, new theme – and of course a new upload. 😀
This ceiling lamp is based on a real one – namely, the one in my kitchen. I call it the Big Bulb because… well, because it looks like a big bulb. A really big bulb.
“Yep. That’s a big bulb.”
Backstory: my aunt and uncle got this lamp in the early seventies (so it’s older than I am, even) and I’ve always loved it. My aunt and uncle knew this, so when I got my first own home they gave it to me as a house-warming gift. It’s been hanging in my kitchen ever since. Strangely enough, though, it wasn’t until recently I realised that it’d look just as good in a Sim’s kitchen as it does in mine. 😉
The socket of the Big Bulb is a shiny brass, just like on the real one. The bulb itself has two recolours, yellow and white(ish). It’s also slightly translucent; the real one isn’t, but for Sims, this looked better.

OMG, I had something like that long ago, only mine was a floor lamp and a table lamp. I didn’t have a ceiling light. I got them at a flea market, and I think they were vintage 70s, only when I bought mine it was like the mid-80s, when 70s stuff was just old and ugly, not yet “vintage.” So it must have been A Thing at that time.
So downloading this, and I’m going to stick it in ALL THE HOUSES… 🙂
Really?! That’s funny! 😀 You’re right, it must have been A Thing – and an international one, at that, because I know my relatives got their lamp here in Sweden. 🙂 I hope your Sims will like this as much as I do!
Heck, for all I know, mine were originally from Sweden. The flea market where I bought them was in New York City and there was stuff from all over the place there, back then. It was held every Sunday in this huge old warehouse, and you could get just about anything there. Of course, some of it was probably stolen stuff. *laugh*
Anyway, I don’t know about my Sims, but I’m getting a huge kick out of this thing. I’m easily amused, I guess. 🙂
Who knows, maybe we were trying to take over the world one light bulb lamp at the time back in the ’70s. 😛
