Well, she said, I’m back. ๐Ÿ™‚ I hope 2017 has been treating you well thus far; I know 2016 was a rough year for far too many of us. Here’s to hoping this will be better one for all – the only way is up, amirite?

So let’s start the simming year off with an upload that’s bound to lift your spirits – if you’re a Sim, at least. ๐Ÿ˜‰ My first upload of 2017 is two kinds of scented candles, inspired by IKEA’s BRÄCKA and SPRALLA candles. And for Sims, they’re scented for real. :mrgreen:

Counter Completers: Add-ons for Eight Maxis Counters

Counter Completers

Category: Counters: Surfaces -> Counters; wall cabinets: Decorative -> Wall or Surfaces -> Shelves
Poly Count: Low poly to Medium poly
EPs Required: Varies

UPDATE 16 OCT 2019

With the release of my second set of counter completers, I’ve taken the opportunity to update several of the items in this set. All of the updates have been added to the main download.

If you’ve downloaded this set before 16 Oct 2019, I recommend you download it anew; just let the files overwrite the ones you’ve already got. (I did contemplate making a separate download with just the updates but eventually decided against it, partly because I don’t trust myself not to miss adding something, partly because I don’t want to confuse people more than necessary. Sorry about any inconvenience this might cause return downloaders in particular!)

The following items have been updated:

Value: Fixed counter shadows so they better match those of the Maxis Value counter, and changed the wall cabinet shadows accordingly. Also remapped the inside of the counters with shelves to the side of the counter, to make it painted instead of plywood (have updated the screenshots to reflect this).

Epikouros: Fixed shadows to match the Maxis ones (haven’t updated the screenshots to reflect this, but you can see the new shadows on the counters from my second set).

Castanoga: Deleted the middle slots on the shelves for the shelves+door and door+shelves wall cabinets (anything you put in those slots would just end up behind the door frame anyway), and also moved the other slots so they’re centred better in relation to the doors.

Blue Ribbon: Removed the inside shadow from the wall cabinets (not sure why I thought it was necessary in the first place). Have not updated the screenshots to reflect this.

Double Wood: Remapped the inside of all wall cabinets with shelves so they’re mapped to the side of the counter instead of to the tiny, dark texture patch Maxis had mapped the inside of the counter to (have updated the screenshots to reflect this).

OMSPs: Fixed the invisible recol so it sticks if you recolour them with the design tool when on an occupied lot. Also added a menu option to make all counter OMSPs visible/invisible simultaneously.

Also, just so there arenโ€™t any concerns or confusion, all of my counters work with drop-in sinks. (Yes, I know some custom counters donโ€™t, but these do and have been thoroughly tested.)

This project is something I’ve been working on on and off for well over a year. It all started when I was furnishing a kitchen for one of my Sims, and thought the K&B Surfaco counter would be great for his style… except the Surfaco is one of those counters who has only one variation, with doors, and that looked a bit boring to me. Too boring.

Around the same time, Kiri over at leefish.nl made some great add-ons for the Value counter, and iCad released a ton of counter recolours at her Tumblr. All together this put me in a counter productive mood (bad pun, go stand in the corner!), and it got me thinking. Maybe I should make some add-on counters for those poor, neglected doors-only ones? Just one or two, for the Surfaco and maybe for the Value counter as well (“the single most useful counter in the repertoire,” in Kiri’s words)?

“Just one or two,” yeah, right. ๐Ÿ˜› Somehow, I ended up making add-ons for no less than eight in-game counters: Value, Epikouros, Blue Ribbon, Forbidden Fruit, Castanoga, Surfaco, Neo-Quartzo and Double Wood. And just as I thought I was finished? I realised the walls in my test Sim’s kitchen were looking awfully bare – so I made some wall cabinets as well. (Yes, I know that CTNutmegger at MTS made wall cabinets already back in 2009, and they’re great, but as a matter of personal preference there were details I wanted done differently. Besides, it seemed a bit silly for me to say that “you can have all these new counters, but if you want wall cabinets to go with them you’ll have to get them from a completely different creator at a completely different site”. I’ve sometimes used CTNutmegger’s wall cabinets as inspiration, but I haven’t cloned mine off hers and I have not used her meshes as bases for mine.)

CEP Extra for the BG Cheap Alarm Clock

CEP-Extra for the BG Cheap Alarm Clock
(Yes, I know that’s not how you spell “extraordinary.” It’s a pun.)

And things like this would be why I said I’m “sort of” on hiatus. ๐Ÿ˜›

Over at MTS, the great Michelle made some wonderful LACK recols of the base-game “Get Up!” alarm clock. Well, sort of. This clock turned out not to be recolourable, so Michelle had to make a brand new, CC one in order to be able to recolour it. I loved her recols, of course, but I thought it was a real pity she had to go through all that trouble, and that someone really ought to make that poor, neglected alarm clock a CEP extra for future use. Then I thought that “someone” might as well be me. ๐Ÿ˜‰

So, here is a CEP-extra for the base-game cheap alarm clock. Now it’s recolourable, and it also has two subsets instead of just the one.

Training Dummies v. 2.0 (and 2.5) – Now with Sword Options!

Training Dummies with Sword Options

Category: Hobbies -> Exercise
Poly Count: Canvas Low poly (980); Armoured Medium poly (1210); Invisible Low poly (12); Swords Low poly ( < 500)
EPs Required: Nightlife or above

This download post was actually inspired by you, my downloaders – or at least by some of your screenshots. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Back story: a while back, I made a couple of training dummies (cloned from the brilliant Rebecah’s duel dummy), one armoured and one invisible. One change I made from Rebecah’s duel dummy was to make Sims use swords instead of the original cutlass; the armoured dummy had one kind of sword, and the invisible one another.

Now, in the screenshots I’ve seen with my dummies, people almost always seem to prefer the armoured dummy over the invisible one – obvious to me from the sword – even when it means moveobjects’ing it out of the way (which they wouldn’t have had to do with the invisible dummy). Maybe I’m over-analysing things, but to me this seems to indicate that people aren’t too keen on the sword for invisible dummy, and/or preferred the armoured sword even if meant more work when they set up the shot.

And this got me thinking. Wouldn’t it be great if people could choose which sword they wanted their Sims to use, instead of being stuck with whatever sword I’d picked for that particular dummy (which they might not like)? And not just choose between these two swords, either, but from several different ones? I had a fairly good idea how to go about setting this up… so I did.

So, my offering today is three training dummies, that each have no less than eight different swords for your Sims to choose from. En garde! ๐Ÿ˜€

Update, 19 October 2015: At the request of Charity322, there is now a v. 2.5 of the training dummies available, where adults can choose different swords for their children as well. Scroll down to the menu screenshots for more info.

Blacksmith’s Crafting Station for Custom Objects

Blacksmith's Anvil for Custom Objects

Category: Hobbies -> Misc.
EPs Required: Open for Business
Cost: $945
Poly Count: Medium poly (1227)

Update, 6 April 2019: After almost four years (!), I’ve been told there’s a problem with the enthusiasm gain, that would make Sims gain enthusiasm super fast. I have no idea how I could have missed this in testing, but at least it’s been fixed now.

Please, everybody. Please. If you find an issue with one of my objects, I’m asking, no, begging you: let me know about it! There’s a “Report Issues” tab at the top of the page you’re welcome to use if you don’t want to leave a public comment (you can be completely anonymous there, it doesn’t even require a screen name). I don’t do telepathy and I also don’t watch every single Sims forum on the Internet, so if don’t tell me about it directly, there’s a good chance I’ll never know there’s a problem. So help me out here, would you? Please? With sugar on top?

Important! I very strongly advise you NOT to include this item with lots but to link to it instead. It will not package properly with lots!

If you include it with a lot anyway, you need to add the tools and the crafting objects (all found in the “AnvilCraftingItems” folder) manually to your zip file or the anvil won’t work properly for your downloaders.

And if you still include it with a lot but don’t add the crafting items… then that’s on you, not me. ๐Ÿ™„

So, a while back I made a blacksmith’s crafting station, cloned from the OFB robot station. I also made some default replacement bots to go with it, to give it more of a medieval feel. One of my commenters wondered if it would be possible to make those default replacement bots custom ones instead, for the players who’d like to have both Hydrobots and flying water buckets in their game. Unfortunately, after trying and failing spectacularly quite a few times, my answer had to be “no can do” – I couldn’t get Sims to craft custom anything, least of all custom bots. So that was that. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

But the idea stuck with me, to have a crafting station where your blacksmith Sims could make custom… not bots, obviously, but other custom items, and gain skill and enthusiasm in the process. I knew that building something like this from scratch was waaay above my current modding level, though… so I asked the brilliant Rebecah @ Affinity Sims if I may use the BHAVs from the candle maker she made with G-Knee – and kind and generous simmer that she is, she said yes. ๐Ÿ˜€ (So in case you're here from the Keep: No, I did not clone one of Sun & Moon’s crafting stations. I cloned Rebecah’s candle maker, and this with Rebecah’s explicit permission.)

The result was this: A blacksmith’s crafting station for custom items (not bots).

Pottery Table for Kids

Pottery Table for Kids

Category: Hobbies -> Misc.
EPs Required: Open for Business + Free Time
Cost: $750
Poly Count: Low poly (700)

You know the Yeti I told you about before? The one who wanted an outhouse for their blind date? Well, before they decided that an outhouse was the most romantic way to go, Yeti and I brainstormed a bit about what might be a good thing to bring to their date. One of the things that were on the table, was something that would let children gain pottery skills. At first, I tried to add pottery skilling to a custom object, but after failing spectacularly a number of times, I decided it would be easier just to clone the pottery wheel and make it so that kids could use it. (Yes, I thought it would be easier to do it that way. That’s how spectacularly I failed. ๐Ÿ˜› ) So, I did. But then the nice Yeti thought it wouldn’t be fair to keep it just for their blind date, they thought I ought to post it on my site instead. So, I am. :mrgreen:

Two Invisible Floor Lamps

Two Invisible Floor Lamps

Category: Lighting -> Floor Lamps
Cost: $5
Poly Count: Low poly
EPs Required: None โ€“ base game compatible

I know, there are invisible lamps out there already (some of them made by me). There are ceiling lamps and wall lamps, and that’s great… but sometimes, you get the best lighting for your picture from a floor lamp. Problem is, when you’re setting up your photo shoot and finally have your Sims where you want them and the light where you want it and the camera where you want it, very often that floor lamp will be in your face (or at least taking up a significant part of the screen).

I don’t know about you, but I don’t like lamps in my face. ๐Ÿ˜› So, I’ve made two invisible floor lamps to help with this.

At Affinity Sims, KittenOnACloud made a request for a TV that her Sim toddlers could watch. Me, I thought this sounded like a great idea – so I made her a Tube for Tots. :mrgreen:

Bonus: If you want your little ones to have their very own TV channel to watch, Kitten (Bubblebeam @ MTS) has created the Tiny Tots TV Channel just for them, here.

All-in-One Outhouse

Blind Date All-in-One Outhouse

Category: Plumbing -> Toilets
Cost: $50
Poly Count: Low poly
EPs Required: None – base-game compatible

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Outhouses smell like sh!t
But you won’t, ’cause
You’ll be squeaky clean after using this one

(All right, so I might need to work some on my poetry skills. ๐Ÿ˜› )

So, a Yeti was going on a blind date. Now, this Yeti wanted to give their date a romantic gift for the occasion, something they knew said date would appreciate and cherish forever. Obviously, they wanted to give them… an outhouse. But not just any old outhouse! No, Yeti wanted it to be something like Veranka’s all-in-one bathroom, that raises Sims’ hygiene as well as their bladder. They asked me if I’d like to collaborate with them in making it, and since I really like Yetis (especially this one), I said yes. ๐Ÿ™‚

The result was the “Smells Like Roses” Outhouse.

Update, 28 April 2015: As requested by godlimpingby, there is now a variation that doesn’t raise hygiene. See the end of the post for more info.

Exercise Mat for (Almost) All Ages

Exercise mat for Sims of (almost) all ages

Category: Hobbies -> Exercise
Cost: $75
Poly Count: Low poly
EPs Required: Base-game compatible unless you have the Kitchen & Bath SP; then Free Time is required

UPDATE, 28 APRIL 2022: A helpful anon let me know that pregnant Sims would throw an error when they stopped exercising if the player didn’t have a mod installed that lets pregnant Sims wear everyday clothes (which I had in my testing game, oops. ๐Ÿ˜ณ Bad Nix for not testing in a vanilla game!). This has now been fixed and the download has been updated.

Thank you very much for reporting, anon! โญ

Over at LeeFish, we usually have a themed challenge each month; it can be something specific, like decorating a certain house, or something more general, like winter. For January, it was suggested that the theme should be Fitness, since January is the month of New Year’s resolutions, and exercising more/getting fitter/losing weight are popular ones. So, in line with this, I’ve made an exercise mat that Sims aged child to elder can use to gain body skill and get fitter – and if you have Free Time, they’ll gain Fitness enthusiasm as well. And it’s not just for present-day Sims, either; medieval (and other) Sims can use it, too, it has recols for that. ๐Ÿ˜‰ (And yes, I know there are other exercise mats out there already, but I wanted one with my own little quirks, so.)

Update, 11 March 2019: PenelopeT @ MTS has made ten wonderful recols for this here. Go get ’em! ๐Ÿ˜€

Update, 1 Jan 2020: PenelopeT has made ten more great-looking recols , yay! :mrgreen:

Update, 2 Feb 2023: The one and only Almighty Hat has recoloured this in Pooklet’s Project Mayhem Naturals, Aelia’s Autumn and CuriousB’s ACYL. That’s 82 recols for ya. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

TSM Book Stacks as Bookcases

TSM Book Stacks as Bookcases

Category: Hobbies -> Knowledge
Poly Count: Low poly ( < 700)
EPs Required: Base-game compatible (provided that you get the base-game variation)

Not all of my medieval Sims are into bookcases. Some might like to keep a pile of books on their desks, to have them readily at hand when they write letters. Others might be wizards or philosophers, who have so many books, they just don’t have shelf-space for them all. Others again might have spent their very last Simoleon on that precious, precious book, and can’t afford a bookcase as well. And still others might be the kind of Sims who think the floor is a perfectly acceptable place to put their books, clothes, food…

So, to meet their varying needs, I took the decorative book stacks from TSM (except for one that didn’t want to play) and turned them into functional bookcases: three larger ones that go on the floor only, and two smaller ones that can be placed either on the floor or on tables (or other surfaces).

Skill-building Haystack

Skill-Building Haystack for Medieval and Rustic Sims

Category: Hobbies -> Exercise
Cost: $25
Poly Count: Low poly
EPs Required: Base-game compatible unless you have the Kitchen & Bath SP; then Free Time is required

Of all the objects I’ve made, my body-skilling trampoline is my absolute favourite. All my Sim families own at least one – or two or three, if they’re a big family.

Well. My modern families do, anyway. No matter how much I love it, the trampoline is much too contemporary-looking for my medieval game, so my poor medieval Simmies have to do without. I still think it’s a pretty nifty item, though (not that I’m in any way impartial), and I’ve missed it in my medieval game – so I started thinking. What’s a medieval Sim peasant – or a contemporary, rustic Sim who doesn’t like neons and chrome, for that matter – gonna do if he wants to have some fun (and do some body-skilling) after working hard in the fields all day, bringing in the hay?

Why, jump in the hay, of course! So – I made a haystack. ๐Ÿ˜€

Update, 4 March 2019: Mortia has made four seasonal recolours for this here.

Technically, I’m still on hiatus (even though the end is in sight), but you know how it is. Sometimes you just wanna make a lamp.

I saw a lamp similar to this on a TV show I’m watching, and thought it looked like something my Sims would want. I call it the Pear Lamp, because… well, it’s shaped like a pear. (I know, I come up with some really imaginative names. ๐Ÿ˜› ) You get it in the LACK colours, and also in two of my other favourite palettes: Poppet’s Lonesome and Shastakiss’ Yeti palette.

Two TSM Teddy Bears

Two TSM Teddy Bears

Category: Misc. -> Children
Poly Count: Medium poly ( <1200)
EPs Required: None – base-game compatible

I know at least one of these has been done before, but it’s Toddler Month and my medieval tots wanted some teddy bears to hug, and I just couldn’t say no to them. So I’ve converted the peasant teddy from the TSM base game and the pirate teddy from Pirates & Nobles. ๐Ÿ™‚ (Yes, in the base game there’s a knight teddy as well, but that teddy was evil. Evil, I tell you!) Their poly count comes in at just under 1200 polys, but that’s actually some 400 polys fewer than the TS2 base-game teddy, so it’s not high in any way.

Many thanks to BloomsBase for his tutorial on how to transfer TS2 bone assignments to a TS3/TSM mesh, which saved my sanity, not to mention the bone assignments’.

TSM Rocking Horse

TSM Rocking Horse

Category: Misc. -> Children
Cost: $75
Poly Count: Low poly
EPs Required: Apartment Life

In TSM, you have this charming little rocking horse – but even though it’s in the children’s category it’s purely decorative, so all your little Sims can do with it is to look at it. Now, this might be fun for scholarly Sims, but not so much for everybody else. So, in appreciation of Toddler Month, I converted it – and made it functional. ๐Ÿ˜€ Now your littlest Sims can use this rocking horse as it’s supposed to be used – and they won’t just have fun while doing it, they’ll build body skill as well!

This rocking horse requires AL. I tried to see if I could dumb it down, so to speak, and make it so that it would only require [some EP] or above, but it really didn’t like that. So AL it is.
