Five TSM Music Boxes as Animated Stereos

Five TSM Music Boxes as Animated Stereos
Walls and floors by Lama at The Medieval Smithy

Category: Electronics -> Audio
EPs Required: None – base-game compatible
Poly Count: Low poly (848 – 912)

Update, 6 Feb, 2019: Meduza has updated these to have NL/BV/Pets/FT functions. Thank you for doing what I should have done ages ago! ❀

I love the TSM music boxes, I think they’re adorable, and so I really wanted to convert them and make them functional (read that: turn them into stereos. ‘Cause I cheat like that in my medievalish ‘hoods). Problem was, I knew for a fact this was something that had been done before, and I don’t like to repeat what somebody else has already done if I can help it. So, like Ol’ Blue Eyes I did it my way, and turned them into stereos… with custom animations. πŸ˜€

When the music box is turned on (do you turn on a music box?), the lid opens, and the figurine appears and starts rotating. It will obligingly keep on doing so until you turn the music box off; then the figurine disappears again and the lid closes. But you don’t have to take my word for it – see for yourself:

Seven Animated TSM Dressers

Seven Animated TSM Dressers

Category: Misc. -> Dressers
EPs Required: Open for Business or above
Poly Count: Low poly

You can never guess what I have for you today. TSM conversions! Yeah, bet you didn’t see that one coming! πŸ˜›

Anyway. Here is part two of my dresser-conversion series: the dressers/chests of drawers. As usual, I’m sure some or all of these have been done before, but mine are all animated. πŸ˜€ Also, all of them have five slots that hold the same things as end tables. They do require OFB or above (so anything between OFB and M&G goes), but to make up for it they’re all quite low-poly – max 640 polys/tile.

Eight Animated TSM Wardrobes

Eight Animated TSM Wardrobes

Category: Misc. -> Dressers
EPs Required: None – base game compatible
Cost: Varies
Poly Count: Low poly to Medium poly

I have some more TSM conversions for ya. Today I come bringing wardrobes – eight of them, to be specific. As always with conversions, I’m sure at least some of these have been done before, but I’m not quite so sure they have been done like this because it’s a real pain to do. All of them are animated, you see. πŸ˜€

Signet Rings for Hat

Rings for Hat

Seeing the signet rings I made a little while back, that lords wear on the little finger and ladies on the middle finger, Almighty Hat wished for index finger rings, and/or for little finger rings “for ladies who handle their own correspondence.” Hat is somebody I totally fangirl (srsly, she’s solely responsible for about 2/3 if not more of the CC in my medieval game), so of course I had to comply with her wish.

So. Hat (and everybody else) – have some signet rings, v. 2.0. :mrgreen:

Accessory Signet Rings (v. 1.0)

Signet Rings

You can find v. 2.0 of these rings here.

This is one of those “I don’t know if anybody else will want this, but I’ll upload it anyway” things.

In this medievalish story I’m writing, one of my male characters takes off his signet ring and gives it to a certain lady character (in lieu of another kind of ring πŸ˜‰ ). I was in the middle of taking screenshots when I realised that none of the rings I already had in my game looked anything like I wanted – so I made some that did look like I wanted.

Two TSM Fireplaces as Functional Cooking Stoves

What's Cooking?

UPDATE, 14 DEC 2023: The great @jellymeduza has made updated versions of these that also work as cafeteria stoves. She’s also made versions where the “warm self” interaction doesn’t just raise comfort, but the Sim’s temperature as well (something that made too much sense for me to think of it πŸ˜› ). Get them here!

We won’t be getting a white Christmas in this part of the country (but since we had a veritable Fimbulwinter last year, I for one am perfectly fine with that), but that doesn’t mean the weather outside isn’t frightful in my game. Winter is coming and the night is dark and full of turnips; my medievalish Sims obviously need something to help keep them warm, and maybe something to nibble on as well.

So, I took two of the straight fireplaces from TSM – the Phireplace Pharmadasi and the Jacoban Fireplace – and converted them into functional cooking stoves. You need to have at least one EP installed for them to work, but it doesn’t matter which one, it can be anything between UNI and AL.

TSM Armoured Training Dummy

Armoured Training Dummy

Category: Hobbies -> Exercise
Cost: $350
Poly Count: Medium poly
EPs Required: Nightlife or above

So after I made my invisible duel dummy, I thought that it would be nice to have a visible training dummy as well, to give my medievalish Sims some body skill building options – and as usual TSM had just what I was looking for. Now, I know that the TSM training dummies have already been converted over at the Plumb Bob Keep, but just as with the invisible dummy I wanted my Sims to use swords and not cutlasses, and there were some other things I wanted to tweak to my liking as well. So once again I cloned the amazing Rebecah’s duel dummy to make my own. πŸ™‚

Swords for Morgaine

Swords for Morgaine

Update 27 July, 2016: In case your Sims don’t like to run around all day with their swords unsheathed (I mean, you can poke somebody’s eye out like that. Or your own), ocelotekatl @ Blue Heaven Sims has made great completer set with scabbards for these! :mrgreen:

When she saw my posebox with accessory swords, Morgaine – the brilliant author of The Chronicles of Albion – wondered if it would be possible to turn the swords into the kind of accessories your Sims put on in a mirror, so you could use them with other poseboxes and animation boxes as well. Since Albion is one of my favouritest (that is too a word!) Sim stories ever, of course I accepted the challenge. πŸ˜€

The swords have all been extracted from TSM, so much as I’d like to I can’t take any credit for the meshes or textures.

Invisible Duel Dummy with Custom Swords

Invisible Duel Dummy

Category: Hobbies -> Exercise
Cost: $5
Poly Count: Low poly
EPs Required: Nightlife or above

While we’re on the subject of knights. πŸ˜‰

Over at Affinity Sims, the brilliant Rebecah has extracted the BV duel dummy so Sims can use it to gain body skill and sports enthusiasm. πŸ˜€ This is absolutely great, of course, but for my own storytelling purposes, there were two things about it I wanted done a little differently: I wanted it to be invisible so I wouldn’t have to keep moveObjects’ing it out of the way for screenshots (I know, I’m lazy), and I wanted the Sims to use swords instead of cutlasses. More knightly that way. Thanks to Rebecah’s generous policy, I could clone her dummy and tweak it.

Knightly Posebox with Accessory Swords

A Knightly Posebox with Accessory Swords

Category: Hobbies -> Misc.
Cost: $0
EPs Required: None – base-game compatible
Works For: Both genders, teen to elder

Sometimes, I go a little overboard. For this medievalish story I’m writing (that isn’t live yet), I needed a particular kneeling pose. One pose. And then I thought that it would be great if the Sim was holding a sword and oh, TSM has some nice ones… and then it rapidly went downhill from there. πŸ™„

The result is this: a posebox with seven kneeling and three standing poses for you to mix and match. (Yes, I know there are similar poseboxes out there already, but I wanted my own.) To add some knightly flavour, all of the standing poses as well as one of the kneeling ones have accessory swords to go with them, that will be spawned automatically when you run the poses. That’s right, your Sims won’t have to put them on or take them off using a mirror: the posebox will take care of it for them. A knightly posebox should be chivalrous, after all. πŸ˜‰

Nine TSM Wall Mirrors

Nine TSM Wall Mirrors

Category: Decorative -> Mirrors
EPs Required: None – base game compatible (but can be shifted if you have Apartment Life)
Cost : Varies
Poly Count: Low poly (none over 600 polys)

Maybe it’s because I haven’t been downloading from the right places, but if there’s something I don’t have nearly enough of in my medievalish Westeros ‘hood, it’s mirrors, especially wall mirrors. Thankfully, there is no lack of such in The Sims Medieval you can convert, only I couldn’t choose which ones I wanted in my game… so I converted the lot of them. πŸ˜€

So, I give you the nine TSM wall mirrors (yes, nine; one isn’t in the title picture), seven of them with frames in Pooklet’s naturals. Picture heavy post ahead!

TSM Braziers – with Effects!

Five TSM Braziers with Effects

Category: Lighting -> Floor Lamps
EPs Required: None – base game compatible
Cost : Varies
Poly Count: Low poly to Medium poly

Well, she said, I’m back, and I come bearing conversions. Yes, it is quite possible these have been done before, but I wanted them for my own game and was too lazy to scour the Internet for them, so.

Thus I bring you five of the braziers from The Sims Medieval (plus one bonus crystal ball because I like to play with envcubes), all fired up and ready to go – and I do mean fired up. They all have fire effects. :mrgreen:

The Brazen Brazier

The Brazen Brazier

Category: Lighting -> Misc.
Cost: $250
Poly Count: High poly! (2,200+)
EPs Required: None – base game compatible

It’s not easy, being a Sim in Westeros: As if it weren’t enough that winter is coming, the night is dark and full of terrors to boot. To get through, your poor Sims obviously need something that can both keep them warm and keep away those white-faced, blue-eyed things that don’t just go bump in the night. You know, like a good brazier.

The Deceptively Modest Painting (i.e. Wall TV) + DR Remotes

The Deceptively Modest Painting

Category: Electronics -> TVs & Computers
Cost: $35
Poly Count: Low poly
EPs Required: None – base game compatible (but can be shifted if you have AL and also moved with the M&G quartertile cheat)

I admit it: My medieval-ish Westeros ‘hood isn’t quite as medieval as it could be. My Sims have lots of cleverly disguised but no less horribly anachronistic appliances, such as phones, stereos, computers – and TVs.

Personally, I prefer wall TVs for my Sims (even though I know there are different kinds of table TVs out there as well). Now, I’ve seen some two-tile wall TVs disguised as big, ornate paintings, and they’re great – for lords, ladies and knights anointed. But what about the smallfolk? The peasants and the common labourers, who don’t have all the gold of Casterly Rock at their disposal – what are they supposed to watch?

Why, this little one-tile wall TV disguised as a painting, of course! πŸ˜€
